Eric Freedman is a Professor of Journalism and Chair of the Knight Center for Environmental Jounalism. He is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize for reporting. Freedman is a former Fulbright senior scholar in Lithuania and Uzbekistan and has conducted training workshops for professional journalists in Central Asia sponsored by the State Department, Internews, Freedom House, and other organizations. Freedman's research interests include press rights and journalistic practices in Central Asia and media coverage of international environmental issues. His research interests include press systems and journalism practices in the former Soviet Union: international journalists’ professional standards and education; public affairs reporting; news coverage of human and political rights; and U.S. political history.
