Alumni Spotlight: Glenn Klassen
While MSU is well known for its study abroad, education, and business programs, the College of Music has numerous offerings that draw students from all over the country and the world. For alum Glenn Klassen, it was the orchestral conducting program that drew him to MSU. After the program was recommended to him by a friend, he decided to make MSU his university home. Klassen graduated from the College of Music in 1998, and from there has gone on to become the Music Director of the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra as well as the Director of Vox Musica, which is a 100 voice-mixed choir at the University of Lethbridge located in Alberta, Canada.
One of his fondest memories of his time spent at MSU is learning from Leon Gregorian. According to Klassen, Gregorian's "approach to conducting and his pedagogical method – both in private lessons and when he was on the podium," were inspirational. "It's a rare day when I don't use the tools/education he provided me," said Klassen.
