Alumni Spotlight: Andrew Fortis
The reputation of a university is an important factor when choosing where to pursue a higher education. For MSU alum Andrew Fortis, the big name and reputation of MSU is why he chose to come to East Lansing for his J.D. Graduating from the College of Law in 1999, Fortis went on to pursue his LL.M. at York University. Fortis recalls many fond memories from his days at MSU, and said that there are way too many to choose just one. Memories that particularly stand out are the relationships and connections he made. In fact, he still maintains contact with classmates from MSU who live in Toronto and across the US.
Currently Fortis lives in Toronto and practices real estate and corporate commercial law in his firm, Hummingbird Lawyers LLP. Hummingbird is a successor to his previous firms, which he began in October of 2004. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario), and is a sitting executive member of the Ontario Bar Association in the Real Property Law section.
