Oftentimes, there is one overwhelming factor which influences someone's decision to attend MSU. But for alum Mike Buzak, there were a plethora of reasons he chose to attend MSU. As a talented hockey player, Buzak had multiple offers to multiple schools, including all of the Ivy League members. But he decided to attend MSU to be coached by Ron Mason. Additionally, he chose MSU for the campus-which reminded him of his home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada-and the number of programs offered. As a student who was undecided about what kind of degree he wanted to pursue, it was important to him to have options available. He ended up pursuing a degree in Material and Logistics Management from the Eli Broad School of Business.
Buzak's fondest memory from MSU is hard to pinpoint because he met so many great people, but having President Clinton speak at his commencement ceremony particularly stands out. To him, "the whole experience at MSU was a once in a lifetime experience," and he is glad that he got to experience it. His advice to current students is "to make sure you graduate and enjoy every second you have while you are there." He says that his four years at MSU were some of the best times he ever had, and he wishes he could go back and do it all over again.
Currently Buzak works in Business Development/Logistics at Serv-All Mechanical Services Ltd. To learn more about Serv-All visit their website at: http://serv-all.ca/.
