During the week, we met with business professionals in a variety of industries. We learned about business norms in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and how business operations differ from the United States. I made great professional connections and was exposed to many new industries including Islamic banking and free zone management.
Additionally, I was able to expand my knowledge outside of the classroom. I had never been to the Middle East, and this program exposed me to a very different culture. My favorite activity was eating a traditional meal at the cultural center where we discussed the differences between Islamic and Arabic culture. Immersing myself in a new culture allowed me to appreciate it and gain a deeper understanding.
Overall, this program was an amazing experience that allowed me to grow professionally and personally. I not only have a better understanding of business in the United Arab Emirates, but I also appreciate the Arabic culture as a whole. I am thankful for this opportunity and would highly recommend it to other students.
