During the months of May and June I was granted the opportunity to study abroad at the American College of Greece. During my time I took two classes that will transfer to Michigan State giving me an additional six credits.

My experience while abroad was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did my experience further my academic goals, but it gave me the opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever seen and meet and interact with so many new and different people.

While in Greece I learned so much about their culture and history we went on tours of the historic sites of the city of Athens and some of these tours were even provided by the American College of Greece so that everyone could participate.

While in Greece I also started to pick up on their language which was something that I didn’t think was going to happen, but it happened very gradually and easily. I am by no means able to have a conversation in Greek, but I now know lots of different short words in Greek. I had no trouble with a language barrier whatsoever. Almost everyone I interacted with was either able to have somewhat of a conversation in English or were fluent in English.

I was also lucky enough to travel and see different parts of Greece while I was there. The Greek islands are some of the most amazing places I’ve ever been in my life.

I think my experience relates to a lot of other people, at least the ones I have talked to. Not only was my personal experience amazing and something I will never forget, but my academic experience as well. The professors I had at the American College of Greece were also amazing and so understanding.

I truly think that studying abroad is something that everyone who is capable should look into and try. I made the most amazing memories while meeting some of the most amazing people while also exploring an entire new place.
