When I first applied to the program, I didn’t think too much about it. I was simply curious to see where the opportunity might lead. Now that my time in Greece has come to an end, I am so grateful I took that leap of faith. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone on so many levels and contributed immensely to my personal growth.
Academically, my experience in Athens broadened my perspective in ways I never anticipated. As a Communication, Leadership, and Strategy major, gaining a global outlook in this field granted me insights that I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise. The professors were outstanding, and the classroom discussions were engaging and thought-provoking. Studying outside the USA has fueled my excitement about the possibilities after graduation.
The Greek culture is incredibly warm and welcoming. I lost count of the times strangers went out of their way to help with directions or ordering food. I was initially worried about feeling isolated or homesick, but the rich culture of Greece and the friendships I formed quickly erased those fears.
My days were filled with morning classes and afternoons exploring the city
Visiting the Acropolis was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The intentional design and timeless beauty of this ancient monument left me in awe.
I learned not only in the classroom but also by walking the streets of Athens, fully immersing myself in the culture. The delicious food, upbeat music, and unique traditions of Greece quickly became some of my favorite parts of the journey.
To anyone considering studying abroad, I wholeheartedly encourage you to seize the opportunity. It’s a chance to grow academically, personally, and culturally in ways you never imagined. Whether you’re nervous about being far from home or unsure about what to expect, trust that this experience will challenge and inspire you in the best of ways. Stepping outside your comfort zone is where true growth happens, and studying abroad offers a unique chance to see the world and yourself from a new perspective. Traveling across the world at this stage in my life and embracing independence has truly transformed me. I sincerely hope that anyone considering taking this leap of faith will go for it!
